Assessment of the Effect of Organic Matter on Rare Earth Elements and Yttrium Using the Zhijin Early Cambrian Phosphorite as an Example

The geochemistry of rare earth elements and yttrium (REY) in phosphorite has been widely studied. However, the effect organic matter on REY enrichment not well determined. We utilized paired inorganic (δ13Ccarb) carbon isotopes, total (TOC), content (∑REY) Zhijin Motianchong (MTC) compared them with those Meishucun (MSC) to reveal REY. δ13Ccarb MTC area (≈0‰) is heavier than that MSC (−5.23‰ −1.13‰), whereas δ13Corg lighter (−33.85‰ −26.34‰) (−32.95‰ −25.50‰). Decoupled indicate contribution chemoautotrophic organisms or methanotrophic bacteria. Compared phosphorite, higher ∑REY TOC, these parameters have a positive relationship. patterns resembling contemporary matter. Furthermore, dolomite cement phosphorus-bearing dolostone.
